Medical Reiki

Reiki, alongside your care.

Medical Reiki is Reiki offered in support of conventional medical care: through a procedure, a course of treatment, or a long season of appointments. It never replaces your doctors. It sits beside them.

What it is

A quieter hour inside a loud season.

Treatment days are full of waiting, scheduling, and being handled. This is an hour where nothing is asked of you.

I'm a Certified Medical Reiki Master (CMRM), certified through Medical Reiki International on October 18, 2026. The training covers working respectfully alongside medical teams, safety and ethics, documenting sessions, and the practitioner's own self-care.

Medical Reiki does not diagnose, treat, or cure anything. It is a calm, gentle, fully clothed practice, shaped around how you are actually feeling that day.

Who it's for

For the people carrying a lot.

Around a procedure

Before or after surgery or another procedure, when you want a steady, quiet hour that works around what your body is dealing with.

During treatment

Through a course of treatment, with sessions timed around your care, your energy, and what feels tender.

Long-haul and caregivers

Living with a long-term condition, or caring for someone who is. You deserve an hour of being looked after too.

The session

One unhurried hour and a half.

A single rate, with no introductory discount. Every Medical Reiki session is the same.

Working with your care

Beside your doctors, never instead of them.

Medical Reiki is complementary. It does not change your treatment plan, and nothing here is a reason to delay or skip medical care.

i.

Share what you choose

I ask only what I need to arrange the hour safely: how you're feeling, what is sore or sensitive, and anything to avoid. I don't ask for diagnoses or treatment details. What you tell me about your care is up to you.

ii.

Shape the hour

Seated, reclined, or lying down, touching or hovering. We set it up around how you feel that day, and you can change your mind at any point.

iii.

Close the loop

A slow return, a few notes on what shifted, and, if you want it, a short summary that is yours to keep and share. Please tell your care team you're having sessions.

Common questions

Before you book.

Is Medical Reiki medical treatment?
No. It is a complementary practice offered alongside medical care. I do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, and it does not replace your doctors or any part of your treatment plan. If something worries you, please contact your care team.
How is it different from a regular Reiki session?
It's longer, 90 minutes, with more time at the start and more flexibility in how the session is arranged. The room is fragrance-free and the approach is plain and conservative: no candles, incense, essential oils, crystals, singing bowls, or ritual, and only soft, neutral music if any. The training behind it focuses on working safely and respectfully alongside medical teams.
Do I need my doctor's permission?
You don't need permission to rest, but I encourage you to tell your care team you're having sessions, and to ask them about timing around treatment if you have any questions. You are always the one deciding what is right for you.
What if I'm unwell, or my immune system is compromised?
If I'm ever unwell, I'll reschedule rather than risk yours. I wash my hands before and after every session, and the room is fragrance-free. If there is anything about your health you'd like me to keep in mind, tell me when you book or when you arrive, or ask your care team first.
What if my treatment schedule changes?
Treatment schedules change, and so do good and bad days. For Medical Reiki sessions there is no late-cancellation fee: tell me as soon as you know and we'll find another time. The one exception is if I have travelled from out of state or booked lodging for your session. I'll tell you about that when we schedule, so there are no surprises.
What does it cost, and is it covered by insurance?
A Medical Reiki session is $150 for 90 minutes, with no introductory rate. Reiki is not billed to insurance, so sessions are self-pay.
Do you offer sessions in hospitals or clinics?
Right now, sessions are at my studio at 5700 W Grace Street, Suite 109, Richmond. I'm working toward offering Medical Reiki in clinical settings, and I'd welcome a conversation with any care team that is interested.
Can I bring someone with me?
Sessions are one-on-one so the room stays quiet. If it would help to have someone wait nearby, just let me know when you book.
For care teams

Curious how this could fit your patients?

If you are a nurse, physician, social worker, navigator, therapist, or other clinician exploring complementary support, I'd be glad to talk. Please do not send patient-identifying information by email.
